Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Soldiers Table

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.

This warrior group includes Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that having everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for players who are drawn to a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the magical artifacts to sell off.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure knows the region and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the party enter locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his salvation and will now follow him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the setting for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the warrior group will be absent next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to form the Explorers and Planners tables.

Audiences can expect finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, streaming live on next week.
